The tally of fatalities due to the UPS cargo plane which caught fire and plummeted has now reached 13, per recent reports.

A release from the carrier identified the flight crew operating the aircraft as Pilot Richard Wartenberg, Co-pilot Lee Truitt, and Relief Captain Dana Diamond.

Probe Details
Government investigators disclosed that the jet’s left wing burst into flames and an engine separated soon after departure from the airfield, resulting in the plane to crash and burst into a fireball.
The safety agency stated it is investigating the aircraft’s upkeep logs, that was in the state for maintenance weeks before the crash.
Aviation information showed the aircraft was on the ground in San Antonio, Texas from 3 September to last week.

The cockpit voice recorder and information unit were retrieved, and the power plant was found on the airfield.
The units – called flight recorders – were built to survive accident forces and intense heat from infernos, and they appeared to be undamaged when discovered amid the wreckage. Officials plan on reviewing recordings from the recorders.
The plane’s concluding recorded information indicated an elevation of that level and a speed of 210 miles per hour prior to the accident.
Maintenance Background
Per Federal Aviation Administration records from that date, a fracture on a structural piece within the fuel container demanded repairs.
The company ST Engineering, which indicated it supplies aircraft servicing for UPS’s jet and operates a service location in that city, declined to speak, but stated it would work closely when investigators approached it.
